Domestic abuse occurs because of the desire of a significant other to control the relationship and the partner through physical, mental, psychological, emotional or economical means. Domestic abuse is common in India and in the saddest scenario, it is made common – ‘It happens, power through for the sake of the family’ – a common pronunciation in the Indian household.

Why do they stay in the relationship?

Willingly – Sometimes it’s nice and sometimes there’s nothing else.

They stay in the relationship willingly despite the abuse. A lack of awareness is the reason for this. This ignorance makes it impossible for the victim to let go of the relationship.
