Education as a means to avoid social Hierarchy

Education as a means to avoid social Hierarchy

The pen is Mightier than the sword.

The most powerful anti-weapon of this world has been education. Education is the most powerful means to improve personal and sociological life. Education contributes to the fundamental, psychological and sociological development of an individual or a society at large. Education can transform society at both microscopical and macroscopic levels. It improves individual life and collective life. Organizations across the world take up various efforts to provide free education for kids from vulnerable social and cultural backgrounds.

How Education makes a Difference in abolishing Social Hierarchy?

To be radical is to grasp things by the root

Impact education has been one tool in fighting against all the inequalities present in society. Learning is an incessant process. Everyone learns till they face death. Learning facilitates new ideas, and discussions and provides a space for creating better discussions. Discussions lead ways to conversations and conversations lead ways toward transformation. People have strived hard to create a world where we are privileged to study and learn. The transformation of individuals and small groups leads to a greater change in society. The impact of education flows steadily toward society and creates changes in the subliminal minds of people in society.

How does Education Change Society?

Education is the mother of leadership

In a country like India, a diverse society classified based on various aspects, education is the most supreme aspect to bring about better conversations. The mindsets of people belonging to different groups are different. The classification of the society of India is based on various aspects such as race, religion, caste, creed, and much more. So, the model of education plays a vital role in transformation. An educated generation can bring about changes in the entire social taxonomy of society and can bring about a change in the thought process and lifestyle. Here, education acts as a weapon to deal with fighting against the classical systems that had shaped us so far. Thus, education becomes a supreme means to oppose caste inequalities.

Steps that Education Facilitates in Society

If we want to reach real peace, we should educate all the children

Knowledge: Human Beings are social animals. It becomes necessary for us to know about society, our surroundings, and other societies to reflect on the basic moral and ethical dilemmas that we face in our life. The very first thing that we gain from education is knowledge. Knowledge is the mirror of transformation. Knowledge gives us the way to question the epistemological, metaphysical, and factual axions which had been given to us by the older system, and with proper usage of knowledge, we can get a synthesis from the thesis and anti-thesis that had been provided to us.

Solve Problem: Problem-solving is the first step to making a better society. Problems are multi-dimensional. We need solutions that are multi-dimensional and hence require education to do it. Solving problems can provide us with better problems and raise better questions which in turn makes us solve them with better solutions and it’s an endless process. A good education makes us solve the problem by making us discern the good from the bad, identify reliable information from a large source of information, conduct thorough research, identify social, political, economic, and other biases, draw conclusions from the information and make inferences and most of the all develop curiosity.

Fight Against the Social Stigma:

No society is a complete Utopia. We have shortcomings in all societies. In a diversified country like India, we face lots of difficulties in solving social inadequacy. A learned mind must incorporate changes in the social hierarchy. In India, social scientists like B.R.Ambedkar had pointed out various discrepancies in the caste aspect of the social hierarchy. He pointed out every problem of the caste system and gave solutions in the form of educational reservations for socially Schedules Castes and Schedules Tribes. This was further extended to various backward castes accordingly. This has impacted society to a large extent. There were lots of first-graduate Dalits after the independence. The right to education has been a problem for Dalits for more than 2000 years. The system of Varna had provided a culture of poverty and illiteracy in the lives of Dalits. So, with ardent reforms in making the right to education, transformations start to appear. It takes years to change the damage that had been created. Pandits like Ayothithasar, Jyothiraba Phule and SavithriBhai Phule, Ramalinga Adigal, Narayana Guru fought against the social hierarchy present in the Hindu religion. Nowadays, there are lots of discussions against the caste system seeping into the religions such as Christianity and Islam in India. Education is the only means to solve these issues and create debates, discussions, and conversations against these social voids.

Why a society without Caste?

Cultivation of the mind should be the ultimate aim of Human Existence

Human nature is about winning equal status for everyone in the world. The caste system acts as a great hindrance to development. Various parties support caste-based identity as a means of bringing back the older times. To get unbiased learning in society, education becomes a necessity. Without education, we might become a victim of a society that practices caste in both macroscopic and microscopic manners. Humanity is against these system-based structures. To learn about humanity and grow without biases in treating people, unbiased education becomes mandatory. The caste structure has become a strong catalyst in running society. The caste system is graded within the systemic sphere. So, proper growth happens in society when the system is abolished. Education is the only means to avoid it.

Various organizations provide support to children who are in the state of needing care and support. Education is the only means to get them from poverty and uplift their lifestyle. Christian Mission Service is a non-profit, non-government organization aimed at providing education and life to children who need support. Christian Mission Service aims at making a casteless India and providing education to all children.
